Rockin' Robins May 2 and 9
What a unique program for kindergarten and first grade students who are paired with big buddies volunteering their time because they love children and nature. Each week the children would get picked up at school, come to the nature building at Covenant Point and begin various activities and projects. May 2nd, the weather was cold and raining but that did not dampen the spirits of our hearty crew. Living and Non-living materials in the outdoors were found, noted, and discussed. A Predator and Prey game was played int he gym. Sunflower seeds were planted in peat pots to be taken home for growing and feeding the birds who have beaks that eat seeds. A song about seeds was learned and sung. A guest reader captivated one and all with Dr. Seuss' Yurtle the Turtle reading. |

Only certain birds will eat sunflower seeds because of their beaks.
